It dosnt need rejointing. that would be for a gun that is off face. It dose have a loose top rib. I am sending it off for a complete restoration. I hope to get it shipped tomorrow, if the weather dos'nt go south on me.

Wayne, do you know if that buttplate is original to the gun?

It is a shame it is not 4" chambered but you cant have everything. Dean although the but plate fits the gun like it was made for it. I don't think it is the correct pad. Judgeing from my other scott hammergun it should probable be a steel butplate.

Wayne, did you just recently pick that one up? If so, I think I might have been following that one. At any rate, I saw an 8ga WC Scott recently online. I really liked the gun and thought it looked like a pretty good buy, but I don't know squat about the brand so I decided to see how long it would sit for my own future pricing knowledge. Wasn't very long. Sold on the second cycle. Just a week or two ago.

Yes I did just buy it. You were probable looking at the same gun. If it hadn't been for one of the other forum members I would not have seen it. W C Scott is a quality English gun manufacturing company. I own two others and in my opinion they are fine guns. The gun was a bargain. It is getting really tough to come by 8ga doubles.

Wayne:
Don't count on that buttplate NOT being original. It looks correct. There's no rule that says it should be steel. I trust you sent the gun to a responsible 'smith for proper resto of an English gun.

I asked about the buttplate because I have one that looks almost identical to that one on a 1936 GHE 16 ga in high original condition.

I sent the gun to Brad Bachelder. He says he has a formula for casehardening Scotts that is as close as it can get. Brad says he will research the gun and make a determination on the but plate. He will then let me know. I am just not sure. I tried going on line and finding a pic of that plate, But no luck. Dose anybody have any ideas where I could look. The other guns I own do not say W C Scott on the plate. And they are original.
