Default 16 TA Grade 3 out for some cold clays....

Just a few rushed pictures on an overly bright day of a Grade 3 16 TA hammer gun. A “new” addition this year. It was a little chilly, but fun to get out and shoot some sporting clays earlier today. 28” damascus barrels on a 0 frame. The gun is choked around improved modified(maybe closer to light full) in both barrels. It is a great shooter, even at close crossing targets. I brought some spreader shells but never used/needed them.

I shot RST 7/8 and 3/4 ounce shells. This gun loves those 3/4 ounce shells, little recoil and I was hitting some targets that were way out there. I am going to start reloading in 16 and see if I can duplicate those ¾ oz loads.

Thanks! The gun was made in 1886. These pictures really don't do it justice. I had been wanting to share with the group and since I was out today, I thought it would go ahead and post a few pictures. Even in the cold with 20mph winds(and no gloves) I was having a little too much fun...

Now there's a pretty little sixteen Jay!

You'll have to bring it to Addieville the next time we have a get together there. I'd love to heft it.

There is a nice low pressure 3/4 oz load listed on the Hogdon reloading site using 2 1/2" cheddite/RST hulls, International, and the DR 16 wad--that wad may be hard to find as of late, I still have a couple bags.
I have some info on 3/4 oz loads, low pressure, using cheddite hulls , Green Dot, and the SG 16 wad. I use Universal for 7/8 oz loads, SG wad

Thanks Dean, I have been looking forward to showing you this Parker. It is a wonderful light hammer gun. Hopefully, we'll have a chance in 2021 at Addieville.

Harold, I am going to try and figure out a good 16 ¾ ounce load, I haven’t been able to find the 16DR wads anywhere. The RST 3/4oz shells use the Gualandi SG16 Wad. I am tempted to try it out in one of my heaver 16 gauge guns. Or maybe better yet, load up some to get pressure tested. I attached a picture from Hodgdon, their 3/4 ounce load uses Hodgdon International powder. The lightest load listed at 1100fps is the same speed as RST’s 3/4 oz. load…and I was hitting everything with those today
