Right you are Russ - I've been there too. But I had to remove the stock and then remove the floor plate to get it to unhook..... I won't be doing that anymore!

"What type of steel are “K” barrels?"

Possibly I've missed the intent of Mark's question, but the names Parker used for the steel should be marked on the rib, and the composition of several Parker barrel steels is now known courtesy of Dave Suponski and published in the Summer 2014 Parker Pages.

i think the point of Dean's first response was to say it has no relation to steel type, it is an inspection stamp

I seem to recall a discussion a while back about the Kf being a steel mark on the early Vulcan Steel barrels and not Charles King's mark.

I didn’t realize that was an “f”, and since was different font different case, I thought it unrelated to the “K”
