Chuck I think I will just shoot the gun as it is for awhile. If I can hit something with it now and then that will be enough. Every Bob I miss will be there for me and the dogs the next time I go back. If you are asking if I want them tighter I don't.
Thanks for the reply. Best, Mike |

Mike, what will your student think if you miss? Could be bad for biz. Dave at Jaqua's measured the chokes on the gun I bought while I spoke with him on the phone. He said they were .032 and .012. That should work for me. But I still don't know what I'm going to do with this big-bore. Most of my shooting is at the few missed by my noseless, blind mutt, as she blazed thru at mach 2, 10 minutes before I could crawl over a hill in my decrepid state. But in her defense, she is getting better and I'm finding she's leaving fewer for me to find on my own. I hear we're called Old Yeller and missus or was it misses. I'm not sure which one I am. I'd shoot the birds out in front of my dog, but most are out of range for my 24x scoped .264. |

It's the "cooling off period" so 'we' can have enough time to reflect and reconsider the reason 'we' need to obtain these evil weapons.

I thought it was a law instituted by wives to allow them to catch us spending jewelery money so they could call the state controller (probably a controlling women) to kabosh our purchase.

Q1/Q2 20/16 set
I have a 20/16 repro set both barrels are 28" long choked Q1/Q2 the 20ga. is .003/.006 , the 16ga. is .004/.006. I have not paterned them as yet...Its a very rare 28" combo set, PG-DT-SF. I found it at Ivory Beads a few years back. They had a big asking price, 11500.00, they had the gun listed for 6 months or so........I made a offer of 8K ....no go, weighted 6 more months and made the offer again, that did it....SOLD..... (-: I think Parker Reproductions gun smiths left the 28ga. and 20 ga. full barrels choked too tight...the full 20-s range in at .037 or .038 the 28-s come in at about the same? The 12ga guns and 16-s are not that tight ...they come in at .024 for my full 16 and .035 on the full 12ga. Thats correct for the 12 and just under choke for the 16?, the 16ga is listed at .026 for full on my charts. The above report for the 28ga. with .040 of choke sounds good, 18" patern at 25 yards is great! I would like to also know the percentage of shot in that patern? Should be 85-90% I would think? I shoot my 28ga repro fairly well with the tight ckokes...I did own a Merkel that was choked IC/MOD that shot like a rifle!...the target had to be covered up dead on or you missed! I think it was shooting a tad low? Anyway its history now and Im very happy with the guns from Jack Skues...thanks all Kenny Graft SXS in snowy Ohio....(-:

Chuck, your wife is registered over at Morgan's on Hawthorne. They have a website and you can track her purchases . . .

Chuck upland ten gauges were invented for guys with dogs like yours! Cabelas Hammond has a Purdey ten gauge that weighs seven pounds. Those .410s and Repro 28s were made for guys like me that can shoot and own pointing dogs.
Kenny that sounds like a great gun and good horse trading on your part. Dean I have made some doublegun purchases that I wish I had had a ten day cooling off period. Best, Mike |
