On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 1967, my friend Jim and I were hunting Quail down in Columbia County, Washington, and while moving through some trees, where just the stone foundations of an old set of buildings remained, my Brittany started barking. I had never heard that dog bark. I got over to where she was and looked up in a tree and there was the cat. Having #8 Quail loads in the gun, I looked around in my vest and found a heavy load #6 and used that to shoot the cat.
