You need to be careful & know the various state laws & regulations as well as the fed stuff. Here in Colorado on long guns you can buy or sell to someone in a contiguous state with my home state & take possession of it with the proper background checks. If your buying from someone from a state that doesn't touch Colorado it must be shipped to a FFL in Colorado for transfer.

In this situation you might get in trouble doing an FFL transfer in a state you don't live in.

Good point, I talked to a gunsmith in Maine that had a gun shipped to him from England and it was hung up at the airport because it didn't ship with a trigger lock. It seems that all guns in Mass need trigger locks so the state cop at the airport sat on it until a trigger lock was produced.

I think that if I want to buy ammo in Mass, I can't (I live in New Hampshire) because a person needs a Mass Gun Owners Card to buy ammo or a gun in that state. I am from New Hampshire and all this is hear-say to me, so it may be all wrong. But, it is something to ask about BEFORE you have it shipped to a FFL in Mass just to make sure you don't end up in a "catch 22" situation.

Here's a link for FFL's in MA. You can search by zip code where you will be visiting. http://fflgundealers.net/transfer/massachusetts/

Contact the FFL and explain your situation.
