Remington probably used the "Damascus" excuse because they didn't want to do the ejector installation. Ejector installation would have been like rocket science to 1950s Remington employees except for DelGrego Sr.

Once they found out it had steel barrels they sent him down the line to Lefever. They put the ejectors on the gun but in reading the rest of the letters they apparently never worked right. When I got the gun they'd been disabled and I had them completely removed.
