P. H. circa 1896
Hi,
I have a 12 ga. 28" bbl #1 frame Parker
#1 The grip and head of the stock were oil soaked. I soaked the stock in acetone for four days that removed the oil so well that I when I use a hair dryer on it I cannot raise any oil from the wood, but the grip and the head area are stained much darker than the rest of the stock!
There is no soft or "punky" wood in the inlettingof the stock, all is solid.
I have tryed household bleach to lighten the color of the wood but it remains a grey brown very dark color. Is there any way to get the wood a lighter color?
#2 The twist bbls appear to be blued under the forend but the sides of the bbls. where the finish is worn the twist pattern is very evident. Did Parker blue their twist bbls?
Thank You
Bill E
