Grade 2's generally did not have checkered panels. I looked thru Walt's Book and found no reference to a Pigeon. Walt Snyder frequents the Doublegunshop site. A post there may be more helpful.

A Grade 2 Pigeon is a well known model to Ithaca collectors. Post your question on shotgunworld.com Ithaca Lovers subforum. Walt Snyder monitors that subforum and should answer your question.

John, I have a Grade 3 Lewis ( not a Pigeon) and it does not have checkered cheeks.
BTW, gun show at the Washington County fairgrounds this weekend, you going?

Work is getting in the way of the gun shows lately Harold (seems like every time for Washington) though I think I will try to get down there for at least an hour Saturday.. Made it to the Niles Show last week and there are just to many people in that building..

Yeah, work sucks. I want to go to the gun show, but would be better off staying home and not spending any money--or better yet getting one of these many guns out and shooting some clays
