I definitely would have done that restoration on your L C Smith. Were they able to do the restoration with original components? Looks really good.

Thanks Harry. I guess I should have offered some additional details.
I did all the restoration work. My business is Classic Case Colors LLC. I acquired this LC at auction for not a lot of money, as its outward appearance did not impress bidders. Fortunately, the action was perfectly tight and the bores were perfect too. I then annealed, hand polished and case colored the frame using traditional bone charcoal methods. The barrels were stripped, hand polished and rust blued. The trigger guard and furniture were polished and hot salts blued. Finally, the stock was stripped, de-oiled and restored with shellac and hand rubbed oil. The checkering was also refreshed. I dare say that she now looks a lot like she did 80-plus years ago when she left the Hunter Arms factory. I know that a lot of folks are down on restorations in general, but I doubt many would have seen any point in keeping this gun in its original pictured condition. |

And to answer your question, all the original parts were in perfect working order. No replacement components required.
