Default New Old Gun

I bought this Quality D lifter 12ga, 30" barrels from an esteemed Parker guy recently at the Baltimore gun show. It has a few minor issues, the first is that the firing pins were frozen. I was able to get the left firing pin bushing unscrewed and just cleaned and lubricated the innards. The left bushing is frozen and will not budge. Even my gunsmith couldn't unscrew it. A drop of oil on the exposed shaft and it's now good to go.

A slightly bigger problem is that the bolt would not stay retracted when the barrels were opened. The trip was not working at all. To take the trip out, the bottom frame screw has to come out. It is frozen too and again, my gunsmith couldn't loosen it. A little penetrating oil on the trip and working it with a small screw driver freed up the trip and it's now working. I'm going to leave the screw alone unless the trip fails to function properly. The screw was buggered a little and I did a little more damage to it trying to get it out. The gun is tight on face and there is no felt recoil when using 7/8 oz loads.

The right barrel has a .750 bore and .028 choke. The left hand barrel has a .760 bore and .042 choke. The choke profiles are exactly the same in both barrels so I think that's the way Parker bored them. The drop at heel is 3 1/8" so I'm going to add a comb riser to get it up to around 2 1/2" and it will be ready for the hammer gun event at the Southern.

Your latest and my latest have a lot in common, to bad condition isn't one of them. Congrats on that one, looks like fun. Dave

Wow what a nice one Chuck!

My 14056 looks to have been engraved by the same hand and there are only a few differences in the motif, such as where there is a woodcock on yours mine has a dog's head... but yours is in much better condition than mine which was used hard.

Congratulations to both of you!!

My D with the same dogs.

At some time in its past somebody had a bit of trouble with the floor plate screw too...
I guess a last resort is to drill it out

Thanks guys!

Dean, I agree, very similar. I was thinking of having a new screw made but decided against it for the time being as long as the trip keeps working. I wonder why our screws are so hard to get out. Old age and rust inside I guess.

Dave, I shot in the hammergun event and made the team my first year at the Southern. I was disappointed I didn't get a hat It's tough to shoot the event on Sunday if you have a long drive home.

Dave S. and George, I'll let you fondle it if your nice. Edgar, I'm still not sure about
