Default Parker Stock Shield ?

What is the history on the little stock shied?
I see some like mine that were attached with small brads, and others that look as if no brads were used at all. How were they attached?

Mike,
I believe all shields and ovals are installed with brads of the same material ie: nickle, silver or gold. When properly installed they are almost invisible. I have seen many that over time have backed out like the ones in your photo.

At a time certain (I'm not sure when), the shield attachment method changed from the individual surface "nails" as you photo suggests, to a one-piece shield with spikes attached to the back, which was simply hammered in once the inletting of the shape of the shield was done (using a curved template).

Anybody ever seen one of those curved templates Kevin references in post #3? Or know anybody that has one?
