Default Gene Hill’s Greener

While hanging out at the Southern, I stopped to visit with Rich Roemer. One of the gentlemen with him was holding Gene Hill’s 16 ga., 24” Greener. What a beauty!!!! Does Rich, or anyone else have a picture of that fine little woodcock gun?

I hope so — I recall his writing of it.

Here are some pictures. It is a sweet little gun....and shoots like a dream, you wouldn't think the barrels were just 24" by the way it shoot targets that are out a ways.

I shot a round at the practice 5-stand at the Southeren with it.

Most of the pictures were from a preserve hunt I did with it right after I got it.

Checking this gun out was definitely a highlight for me this year at the Southern. A good writer like Gene Hill has the ability to take us where they were. I love these discoveries that connect back to a famous writer’s personal firearm. To me it’s like holding a quill pen once used by Mozart.

Thanks for posting the photos. A neat little gun with some provenance for sure.

Reading the classic writings from men like Foster, Hemingway, Hill and Buckingham always gives me a warm feeling, but I confess, I don't remember all the subtle details, after much time has passed. Jay obviously absorbs facts better than most because when the catalog of a recent, well publicized auction came out, He picked up on this Greener instantly.
I got to see Jay shooting it shortly after it arrived in Rhode Island, and I must say, Jay was the modern day Ralphie on Christmas morning.
