TimberLuxe is a very good product - quite possibly the best. I believe it can be purchased as a kit which may include a cleaner, if I'm not mistaken.

There are others such as Formby's furniture cleaner which will take off the decades of grime while not affecting the original finish. Then you can touch up the bald spots by wiping on the protective finish you want to use.
