That "Tarnation" painting was done by William Harnden Foster and he painted a lot of similar situations with a Parker involved.

He had quite the sense of humor... In the third picture the neophyte duck hunter is using a .410 Parker and one of his oars has slipped out of the oarlock. All three situations were painted to allow us to laugh at ourselves.
