The reason I am discussing a head transplant is not to save money or work. Rather, I want to preserve as much of the original gun as I can. The original butt-stock is nicely figured and quite beautiful. I would love to keep as much of the original gun intact as possible. I don’t even know if it’s possible, just looking to see if anyone has done this kind of work.
I thought I once read an article in which Trevallion had repaired a stock in this manner, but I can’t really recall. I am definitely looking for a sound repair that can afford me use of the gun; not for aesthetic purposes only.
The fact that Brian is calling this into question, probably tells me all I need to know. Like many of us, I’m a big fan of his work. If he can’t or wouldn’t do it, there are probably few others qualified to do the work, that could or would.
Brian does say anything is possible however... Hope springs eternal.
