Renouned or not, the easiest way to tell is of there is still a curve in it. One photo looks like it has a curve, the other not. And the minor chipping along the edge of the wood is suspect if it is untouched.

And if your gun was originally equipt with a pad, then it would have been made that way and a buttplate may not fit. What is your current LOP over the pad?

If you gun originally had a plate on it, it would Likely have been the number 1 sized plate. But that cannot be confirmed without a height measurement of the wood.
