Thanks Dean, I put the date of around 1905-1910 because I have observed the checkered cap on some guns up into that timeframe. Certainly up as far as 1905. So it is a chance to have one or the other in that timeframe. I would say that either cap could be correct for any gun made after 1895 and up to 1905-1910.
