The gun in question has not been lettered yet. This 1895 10 gauge hammerless has all parts properly factory inletted except the automatic saftey rod.But the stock has a worm hole defect in the cheek that the wood grain flows around.Apparently a bad suprise for the stock maker.I wonder if this stock wound up as a "lunchbox special" and went home to be eventually fitted to this gun.No serial number is stamped under the triggerguard. The wood defect would probably explain no checkering.Anyone else seen a surplused defective stock? I decided to fill in the hole but leave it black.Did not want anything getting in or out.
