Hello John and all. Thanks for the words.

I am spending a lot of the summer teaching cowboy action shooting at our Boy Scout camp one of two selected for this pilot program. We have the youth shoot bouncing can targets with a pair of Ruger single six 22s and a Henry lever action 22. We have to be one on one with the shooters and another fellow and I dress in western clothes and spend some time talking about the old west and the cowboy code. We talk about the mountain men and the Cowboys many of who were not much older than our scouts. Kit Carson Billy Dixon Wyatt Earp. For our black youth we lead them through Texas Ranger Sam Bass , Jesse Chisum of trail fame and the Buffalo Soldiers. We talk about the guns and between us we show and talk about an old Sharps 40-65 , a Winchester 1886 in the same , an 1881 Parker shot gun, a Colt Navy and my old 1900 Colt SAA.

Then we have them shoot They have western handles or we give them one and we have a scenario for the day. We get lots of grins and lots of questions about these neat old guns.

We go through 62,000 rounds per camping year( 6 ten day sessions) and have about 60 youth per day shooting.

So we maybe step them back in time for a while.
