Thanks for the information. So far I believe or know the following.

* The information in the SN book is the same as the Stock order book which is the only records available.
* The grip cap is Remington. Thanks to Dave I expanded the picture and can clearly make out Part of an R and N.
*Single trigger is a late model Miller ( not sure of when this model came out.
* There are 2 Remington repair codes. One is 1940 the other 1948.
* Appears to be a a Remington restock with black walnut. Forend has GH not DH pattern.
* As far a Beavertail forend the barrel has a loop and the forend has the correct metal bolt.
* Case color points to metal being redone. Remington or Delgrego.

My next move is to weigh the barrels with the forend. Measure the bores and choke and chambers.

I would appreciate feedback on how these mods effect value. I am quit curtain the barrels have been cut, but will know later today. The gun overall is very nice.
