Default First Chance Out

Finally got a chance to get out for an afternoon walk with the GH in the grouse and woodcock covers around my hunting and fishing camp in the Adirondacks. Grouse season opened Sept. 20 and woodcock season opened Oct 1.

The fall colors are coming on but there are a lot of leaves still up. It made for tough hunting trying to see birds. I flushed three grouse but had a shot at only one...made it count though. Also flushed two woodcock and missed the first but connected on the second. Not a bad start to the season, but a dog would have helped!

The first photo below is from the camp. The second photo is of Dun Brook mountain from the dam on the west branch of the Goodnow River. The last photo is of the success of the day.
