Bill’s Trojan barrels are an example of what I have mentioned from time to time. Preserve original finish if possible. The barrels had a lot of wear near the breech and some rust spots. But the muzzle half of the barrels was pretty good. So I cleaned up the rust spots near the breech and left the original finish intact. I restored the barrels matching Parker color (distinctive blue in the color) with the original finish intact. I think Bill would agree that the finished barrels blend perfectly and they do look like Parker bluing which about 60% of the barrels are. It didn’t take long and Bill had his barrels back in a little over a week. My mantra has always been to preserve original finishes when possible.
