Here are before and after photos of a wood refinish on a 20g. Repro DHE. The Transformation is staggering. It is hard to believe sometimes how much the wood appearance can be improved on these guns.
The original finish was stripped, the dimensions were altered by lowering the comb almost 3/8" and the heel by approx 1/16" to better fit the shooters requirements. The heel was able to be lowered by bending down the spur of the ssbp, which gave some wood to be able to work with.
The comb flute was reworked to be more "classic Parker".
A new finish as applied with ground sealer coats that real helped the color of the wood and the depth of the finish.
Finally the checkering was recut and borders mullered.
I also thinned out the splinter forend quite a bit for a more "Meriden" appearance.
