Your question is a good one, and I look forward to answers from the experts. I keep a set of chamber gauges in my shop. I use them frequently, and they are quite simple. Insert them into the chamber. They stop at the line indicating the chamber length. Meanwhile, if you get a shotgun with short chambers you have the option of using RST shells in it. They are really good shells.
