Just some food for thought....

Rib legends on very early guns were read from the other side of the barrels, not from the left as we are accustomed to reading them and I wonder if the stampings on early water tables may have been done in the reverse as well.....? if they had been stamped 066 or 66 or 990 or 99, with the underscore, there would be no question at all. I guess if we had guns on either side of those serial numbers to examine we could have something we could refer to. Gary, what is the orientation of the 026 on your water table?
