The tubes may also have been sourced from different suppliers or barrel-makers.

Most Damascus barrels I have seen on Grade 2 Parkers were 3-blade or three-iron crolle.
I have however, seen Grade 3 Parkers with both three-iron and four-iron Damascus barrels.
If memory serves, the two-iron barrels were on much earlier hammer guns.

These are just my opinions taken from years of observation.
