12 Gauge short double barrel hammered

Hello All! under the unfortunate circumstance of my grandmother passing, i received a myriad of different firearms that were my grand fathers. one of which is this parker shortgun. It has had a very long and useful life judging from the wear and 'personality' marks. However, i am no historian and all knowledge of where this may have come from passed with her (if she even knew).

I've read quite a lot and i believe this was originally manufactured between 1868 and 1874. It is externally hammered and has no serial..

The right hammer was broken/went missing and so a new one was recrafted by some owner or smith long ago. It is perfect - it can be pushed foward to fire without the trigger :0.

There's so many question, but most of the answers are lost to time..If anyone can tell me anything more about this i would be very appreciative

If it just has the name Parker on it, and has no serial number, it would not be a " Parker Brothers " shotgun. It would ,quite possibly, be of European origin. If you could post some pictures it would help us give you more information.

hi, and thanks for the reply. It indeed just has 'Parker' on the side.
I tried to include a photo in the original post - i will try again

very interesting. taking your nugget of info, it seems this is actually a Henry Pieper shotgun from belgium? maybe? funny - not once did belgium come up in any of my google searches, and i only searched for 'parker'...

yes, unfortunately, not a Parker Bros manufacture. A Belgian import

Jeremy,
It's hard to tell from the one picture whether, or not, the barrels are twist or steel. In either case if you are planning to shoot this gun have it checked out by a gunsmith who is familiar with vintage doubles first.
