Barrel re-blue cost

I'm thinking of having the barrels on my DH re-blued......what's that cost on average?

Are your barrels Titanic Steel or Damascus Steel ?

Forget my question - I see in another of your posts that your DH, being a 1920 gun, should have Titanic Steel barrels.

Your question should really be asked of a specialist in properly rust-blueing barrels. They generally post their rates on their websites.

If I were having the job done to myDH I would expect to pay $450 - $550 for a quality job.

Contact those who do it and inquire.

I had a set done here in Houston recently, nice job, $500 + tax. As Brian said, posted on their website.

Call Breck Gorman. He did the barrels on my VHE 16..32" gun...

Cost for bluing a barrel set will vary depending on the amount of shop hours needed for inspection, preparation, polishing & necessary repairs like loose ribs or dents corrected. Just about every gunsmith I've dealt with will quote a basic price with the caveat of any extra work needed will be billed at the hourly shop rate. Most will want you to send them the barrels so they can inspect them and then give an in the ball park quote from what they are seeing with that particular set.

My best advice is to call the smith you're considering using and talk it over with them.
