Hole ?

This is a high grade Parker hammer gun with a hole through the front of the trigger guard bow. Does anybody have any knowledge of why and what it is for ?

Could it have been to access an aftermarket adjustable trigger

I guess the question would be what is under the hole. If nothing unusual, then anyones best guess as to why.

Maybe I'm seeing it wrong, but that looks like the back of the trigger guard as it transitions to the backstrap. If that is the case I'd suggest it is for a finger guard cushion for the shooter's middle finger.

Since the hole appears countersunk it may mean something was attached. I would guess that it would be an aid to overcome either a physical or visual disability.

Perhaps one end of the string went through that hole and wrapped around both triggers. Then the hammers were both set on the bankers gun. Then the other end of the string was tied to the back door handle on the bank. When the bandits broke in through the door in the middle of the night the banker's hammer gun released its fury.... :)

Mystery solved! Gary

John Davis has a gun with a finger cushion attached to the rear of the trigger bow. I don’t remember if a screw went through the metal or if it attached on either side. Maybe he will see this and comment.

Here is a photo of a trigger guard that had a cushion removed.

Look closely at Bruce’s photo And notice that Bruce is probably the only man who uses high grade Parker’s for napkin holders :bigbye:
