measures

found a couple nice rosewood handled, solid brass measures yesterday - one marked "POWDER" and DR for drams with settings 3 to 5 in halfs - the other marked "SHOT" and has settings from 3/4 to 1 1/4 oz -

both have a spout - with I have not seen often- the shot dipper is marked "G & J W Hawksley" the powder one has no makers mark but except for a slightly darker color to the wood is nearly a perfect match to the other

Nice find. I have a couple old measures and roll crimping tools - they're fun and cheap if someone wants to collect something related to early shotgunning. I use my measures with a Mec Jr. when reloading BP shells. If I'm going to do very many at one time I just set up the Mec for everything.

thanks Paul- I do have several others, some marked BGI (Bridgeport) or TORRINGTON, but none of them come any where near the quality of these heavy brass ones - the others are rolled from sheet metal- mostly brass plated and lower quality wood handles

I think these are going to stand out in a case
