I thought this was a handy reference.

Pete,

That is how I cut down my shells. Thanks for posting. Have you tried any of the Down Range wads? I expect to receive my 16 gauge VH from Donnie Gemes with it's new stock any day now. I have about 300 WW 16's loaded with 7/8 oz of 7 1/2 shot in the Down Range wad with about 18.2 grains of PB. I'm guessing 1175 fps as my MEC bushing was throwing half way between the 1100 and 1200 fps load.

Hello Harry, I sold the only and last 16ga I had last year. I was down to 12's and 20's until I decided to follow Scott K. and Bob F. down the 10ga path. I have a similiar hull trimmer for a 10, I thought it might be a useful link for some other folks who visit here.

Pete,

I cut down 10's as well and am in production of 10, 12, 16, 20, 28 and .410 plus trying to keep the pistols and rifles fed. Sure wish I had something to do in my spare time.

Those pics in that forum link are from either Dave Miles or Eric Eis. Can't remember which. I used them to make my 10ga trimmer when I got into that game. I bush the dowel right next to the blade to prevent case mouth deformation and an uneven cut. Get the right angle and keep the blade razor sharp and this method is very fast and precise. You just cannot mix hull types or basewad types in similar hulls or the lengths will not be consistent.

The wood dowel in the vise, are my pictures.

A higher tech version, but pretty simple.

Dave you'll never get EPA approval for it, it's not a "Green" tool like the dowel and razor blade tool :rotf:
