Help with a proof mark and identification

This is a 16ga gun I'm exploring. Hoping someone can help me with the mark above and below the word "choke" on the barrels. Is that a rooster, pheasant, cat, peacock, pegasus? What does it indicate about the gun?

Also, it appears to say "no steel cap" on the bottom barrel. I believe this gun is a war bring-back. Surprised to see english on the gun, although it is a 7-pin sidelock. Anyone seen this or know why it would be on an alleged French/Belgian firearm? Markings on the side of the barrels, just above the barrel flats, read St. Hubert - Paris

Also, am I correct that 17.1 means the gun is underbored, with choke of 17.0 or equivalently .029 constriction(full)?

Any input is welcome!

Not the best sized picture, but I'm trying to ID the marking that is on both barrels right around choke 17.0.

Check out the bug screw in the lower center of the head of the top lever.

Barrels look a little short to me - 26", maybe? I wonder if that even. Either that, or a really long LOP. Waiting on pics of the barrels and a measurement. Gun weighs 6lbs 4 oz.

not at all.

i just posted a link that will explain the meaning of those Belgium marks to you, and help you identify the ones you don't recognize.

the pics are a little small to read everything on.

Well it is Belgian - your link and better pictures from the seller gave me 1926 manufacture. Just wish that mark on the barrels could be identified. Thanks for the help.
