Meet 8 week Ironweed Vanderbilt's Nellie Belle. Call name Nellie. Just picked her up last week in PA.

Hello Nellie! Love those black Lab pups. Will she be making the trip in Oct?

Daryl I am considering it I have to speak with Mike and make sure he is ok.

We very well might get another lab in a few months and be a two dog family. I have always wanted a bird dog and now have one but want a good retriever too

Try a Boykins you will have both.

Most folks may not appreciate that black labs have an advantage (?) over yellows: your wife will never scream “is that blood all over my dog!”

Whoa, Nellie!!! Tore my heart apart! - Leaving early this AM to shoot SC ( I did NOT do well!!) I passed a young man teaching his young (6 mo. ?) Lab pup to "kennel" into his dog crate in the back of his pickup after a training session. I damn near drove off the road! How many years had it been since I walked in those shoes? God I miss my Labs!!! ( and Setter!). How do you tell if you "have another dog left in you?". Leaves are falling!

Looking good. With duck season starting, we are missing our lab

Well my little Nellie is just about 8 months old, she passed her first two AKC hunt tests last weekend two UKC started tests this weekend, she is a talented and awful good looking lab in my opinion.

She would have been 14 today, sadly we lost her 2 years ago.
I have never owned another dog like her and doubt I ever will.
She had so much drive, non of the other dogs could keep up with her.
There will be other great dogs in my life but Belle will never be replaced.

Sean, your post brought a tear to my eye. I can't tell you the number of times that I had that same view of my equally enthusiastic black lab, Autumn, as she launched off the dock to head out to me..... She was a great dog - on every level. Family dog, lap dog, bird dog, duck dog, even picked up the paper every morning out by the mailbox and brought it to me.

Gosh, I love Beau, but I sure miss Autumn.

Nellie titled as a AKC Junior Hunter at 9 months this weekend in Virginia, good start to life as a duck dog.

Way to go Craig & Nellie!! Craig, where was the trial held in VA?

I love the big splash of a Lab when they hit the water after a duck. I miss my little Lab, Mabel. She was only 45 lbs, but she could haul the mail when it came to retrieving!

My Nellie just turned 1 year old 1 week ago. She passed her second AKC Senior hunt test in Vermont this weekend. She is running two more Senior tests in early August and I am hopping she will earn her title.
