My 137 year old Parker 10 speaks the truth again with 2 5/8” brass loaded with 1 3/4 oz of # 5’s at 25 yards. The Tom weighed 20.68 lbs , 10 3/4” beard and 1” spurs.

Matt, Did you use black powder? What load did you use?

Nice one Matt!

really nice turkey and taken with a 10 ga it dont get any better.....charlie

I used 4 1/2 drams of FFg powder behind 1 3/4 oz of # 5’s. That fills the short 10 brass to the top.

that load is a good one did you have to wait till the smoke cleared before you knowed you got him...charlie

Matt is one of our younger members,30's. He has taken the time to work up the load for this old 10 to be sure pressures with shot and powder balance. He took this bird late in our MN season when most hunters have long since given up. He has also become a fine double gun shooter not only with Parkers but other fine doubles.
Good job Matt, you should be proud of your accomplishment. |
Beautiful bird Matt. That makes at least two birds taken with 10ga Parker's in MN this spring as I also was fortunate to take a Tom also. I took mine on April 26 in Lake City. 23 lbs 10oz using RST 1 1/4oz #6 loads. I will see if I can load a picture later. I am just replying to the post on my phone and I don't see a way to post a picture directly from the photo gallery on my phone.

Bob, it can be done just about the same way you load up pictures from your picture file on your PC.

Dean it looks like my pictures are about 540 KB each and it says the max jpg size is 488 so what would I need to do to downsize them slightly to get them to be accepted?
Thanks |
