Model 12 Parts

A bit off topic, but a fine gun nonetheless. Does anyone know a good source for Winchester Model 12 parts? I’m looking for a forend for a featherweight, made in the 60s. When we were duck hunting, my son who is built like a tank, was using my father’s M12 and had difficulty racking the slide. Upon inspection, it appears one of the forend screws fell out and the wood twisted as he pulled back on the slide. When it felt “sticky” he yanked hard on it and cracked the walnut forend. A piece fell out and we lost it and the screw. Using the magic Google machine, I found a screw from Nuline, but not luck yet on a featherweight forend.

Much thanks for your help.

I have had luck finding model 12 and other gun parts on ebay, you just have to keep checking.

You could check with Wright's gunsmithing or Nuline gunsmithing. Both specialize in Model 12 parts

Joe,

Good luck on the forend, I've been looking for one for 4 years. A friend gave me the gun back then for doing him several favors. Someone had put bondo all over the wood to give more of a beaver tail effect. If you do find somewhere that has more than 1 please let me know.

Thanks,
Jack Kuzepski

Thanks all for your responses. Here are a few pics of the forend. It’s a 14 ring, round, a little over 7 inches.

There's a nice 14 groove fore end on ebay right now.

Lightweights were never made with a beavertail. Second, Wright's is no longer with us.

Have you checked with a stockmaker such as Dennis Earl Smith? He can do wonders with repairing cracked wood. Even blending in new pieces of wood to match the original color.
