Remington Custom Shop work?
I've certainly never seen anything like that come out of an American gunmaker's factory. It's really nice though and it looks like a grade 3 or 4.... please tell us about it Dave. I see it is a Remington Ilion era Parker and the oval is engraved. . |
Is it for sale?
|
Looks like they destroyed a nice piece of wood with all that tacky carving.
It may be able to be successfully removed and the stock salvaged. |
It is just a DHE I noticed for sale on GI.
|
That's very reminiscent of German stock embellishment, but, actually a lot higher degree of workmanship than most German guns. I wouldn't characterize it as tacky, but to my mind it's not in keeping with Parkers. Perhaps it was done for for a homesick European.

I am with Brian on this one.

To each his own. I appreciate the art and skill that went into that carving and I really like it. If it were poorly executed I would hate it but again, to each his own... I like it.
But just to be sure in case there is a question - No, I wouldn’t buy it. . |
Its very nicely done and I will probably take a beating for saying so but I like it. Shows individuality.

It's funny we like engraved actions, but don't really care for carved stocks. The skill to execute this carving looks very good. No, I wouldn't want it on my gun, but it is nice.
I shot 5-stand with a guy quite a few years ago. He had a superposed with this type of carving on the stock except it had carved setters. Ken |
