Got a new pup that's not really interested in dog food.
The wife and I are getting kind of tired taking him out for every meal.
Any suggestions?

When my setter was off his feed, did boiled chicken breasts (on sale for $1.25) and then mixed in the dog food with some water.

My dad would say'' he will eat when he gets hungry enough'.

How old is the pup?

I'm thinking the breeder was a bit lax in transitioning the pup from it's mother to solid food.

If it is less than about 12 weeks old try mixing a mash of warm whole milk and puppy chow (kibble) to about the consistency of oatmeal. Dip your finger in it and encourage him to lick it off again and again.

Sounds like you have a German Wirehair pup. He is in the early phase of training you and your wife. Based on my experience, do not take the pup to Japanese steak houses until one year old. Your first year of training is the hardest, after that you will learn to respond quickly to dinner request. Good luck.
