New England Custom Gun Ltdm, Claremont, NH

Does anyone have any experience with New England Custom Gun in Claremont , New Hampshire for their work on double guns? Any feedback will be appreciated

Here's the problem. I was shooting trap this morning with my 12 ga DHE. The gun functioned flawlessly for the first 25 rounds. On the second round, I fired one shell and the top lever froze tight. The gun won't open. The lever only moves slightly.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to get this double open? (besides having to take it to a smith).

I have visited there store many times over the years and have used there gunsmithing services. Nothing major, but you can rest assured that they are a class outfit from top to bottom and any I feel any work you have done by them will be top notch, JMHO.

Thanks Steve. I'd rather not have to send the gun out and would prefer to have a local smith fix it if it's a problem that I can't fix. Don't know why the top lever won't function

Did you try what I suggested Allen?

I had this happen once, I found out it needed a few drops of oil where top lever went into receiver, my gun was just dry. this my not be your problem but it was with mine.

Dean, I tried it multiple times and it didn't work

Well I took 10 Bore's suggestion and applied a few drops of oil on the top lever. let it sit overnight and today I tapped the top with a rubber mallet and managed to get it to break open. Had to work the barrels a bit to get them to release from the frame. I think the first order of business will be to have it stripped and cleaned completely, then go from there if there's still a problem.

Did you check the fired rounds for defects? SXS Ohio

I did check the rounds. They were clean, no burrs. Having Cullity's strip and clean it for starters..
