Uncle left me a Parker Gun Serial No.66XXX......I think I've figured it out to be a DE, but not sure. Seems to be made circa 1891, they look like geese, but not sure on the bird engraved. Has dog butt pad and brass shield. on the barrel there's a D....a 5 with a lil 2 above it. There's an E on the main carrier and all numbers match on all three pieces. Recommendations on getting it up to speed on be able to use? Restoration? Something I can clean myself? Please chime in. Thanks.

Also unfortunately before I found this forum, I had a double hammer Parker that I sold for pennies to my neighbor for a wall hanger. Looks like it might have been worth some money.

Welcome to the PGCA.
We would really like to see your Parker before we give advice on the way you should proceed with it. Please take some hi-def pictures and post them here.

The D on the Barrel flats means it is a damascus set of barrels. The E on the water table Is most likly the grade. That would make it a 10ga. The five with the little two is the unstruck barrel weight. You need good clear pictures of the gun paying paticular attenshion to the water table and the barrel flats.

Carlton,
Welcome aboard. I have to agree with all the above regarding your gun. We have no idea what condition it is in from a rusty hulk and dangerous to shoot or a 90% beautiful shooter with perfect finish and barrels. We need to see it to evaluate it. A question: Where do you live? Usually there are some Parker enthusiasts all over the country even here in California who would be happy to look at the gun and give you a pretty fair evaluation of being a shooter or wall hanger. If it needs some type of work done we can recommend some of the best gunsmiths in the country to work on it for you.

Again, welcome aboard. We are glad to have you.
