Was DuPont 5 1/2 smokeless ?

Or might that mean 5 1/2 drams?

That would be 5 1/2 drams of Du Pont bulk smokeless powder. With the KLEANBORE on the side of the case those are late 8-gauge shells from 1931 or later.

With that info I feel better about trying to touch one off .

I’d be willing to bet it isn’t any stouter than my own buckshot handload .
