100 years of oil, water and dirt. Will soak it in an ultrasonic cleaner for an hour.

Not a pretty sight.

However, please allow me to offer some personal experience. Any flat spring (like the top lever spring seen here) may come to pieces in due time if placed into an ultrasonic cleaner while the spring is under compression. Some do. Some don't. I have my own ideas as to why.

Just a thought.

I always strip completely before putting in an ultrasonic. Not only to ensure no damage occurs. But also to ensure that everything in easily cleaned and dried out before reassembly.

It is. I have cleaned the action, glued and internally pinned the stock head, and refinished the wood without grinding and excessive sanding. We will see if the stock repairs hold as they should. I would not shoot heavy artillery loads through it.

I did some recheckering. Jeff could further hide the old cheek pin bolt holes with multiple coats of paint blended to match the wood and applied with a fine brush.
Hiding the break through the grip is a problem and I have done what I can. Jeff or you could do a little more finishing work on it now but regardless it's ready for pheasant season.

Bruce, i would be looking for a different stock if I were you.

Not my gun. I've tried to fix it as a favor to an old Air Force friend who bought it cheap at a county gun show. There was a lot of abuse wear and hardly any shooting wear. We shall see if it holds together.

That's a pretty piece of wood despite the scars of abuse - and those colors on the frame and floor plate are very nice too.

Love the G engraving , just right. Someone rubbed all the color off the receiver on mine but left all of it on the forearm iron.
