Looking for New Hammers and other parts
 

I’m new to this. I was able to pick up a 10 ga with exposed hammers serial number 25234. It looks solid except for the hammers. After 100 plus years of dry fire the hammer faces are concave and I’m worried the firing pins may be damaged. Are parts available? I’ve read a few threads and see that there are a few people who made them. Is there anyone currently making hammers and firing pins?

Brian Dudley posts here and can probably supply what you need. Awhile back I needed offset firing pins, and Brian supplied them.

There is no need to replace the hammers simply because the faces are concave. Further, that will not have affected the firing pins at all. Don't waste your money on new or replacement hammers. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

To test the effectiveness of the firing pins, remove the barrels, cock a hammer, press your forefinger firmly over the firing pin hole in the breech face, pull corresponding trigger.

At the moment I’m cleaning. Looking at what may need to be worked on. My biggest problem is years of dirt. The stock is solid and everything works. I need to get the barrels checked. They appear to be good. I’m looking at loads now. I’ve pulled a few from the listings and I’m looking for 2 7/8 hulls. I may have to make some.

If they're bad enough it would be pretty easy to microweld the hammer faces up and recontour them.

If they're rebounding hammers all you need to do is push the hammer forward with the trigger depressed and look to see how far the firing pin protrudes out from the breech face. Shouldn't need to redress or recontour the hammer faces at all.... unless you just want to 'pretty them up.'
