Source for replacement hammer screws?
Hello, Folks,
I have been shooting an old 12-ga Parker hammer double for some time. Early piece SN 339XX, which I believe dates to ~1883. Well, one of the hammer screws has lost part of its head. Any sources for these available, either original or new-made? http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/a...s%20No2-72.jpg http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/a...s%20No1-72.jpg Based on some 5-year-old info, I was going to try Keith Kearcher - but I see that he has retired. TIA, Tom |
Look up Tom Carter on this forum. He makes a wonderful replacement screw.

Kudos for Tom Carter!
Thanks for the guidance from the board. I contacted Tom and just received my replacement hammer screws. Very nice work, and they fit just fine.
I'm back in business! Thanks to one Tom from another :) |

Here are the original screw pictures I posted at the start of this thread: http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=9553 http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=9552 I patina-ed one of my new Tom Carter replacement screws, using his recommended vinegar method, and then installed it in place if the original with the broken head. Here's how it turned out, along with a comparison to the original: Original screw: http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=9554 New patina-ed Tom Carter replacement screw: http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=9555 I believe the pictures say it all! |

I'm in the need of a screw for the bottom of the receiver, one of the two side by side. I can't locate a PM icon or email icon for Mr. Carter. Can someone help me out?
Thank you, Andre` |
