New Member Seeking Assitance
I just became a new member because I was interested in finding out more about the Parker Brothers shotgun that I own but am not sure where to start.
Thanks |
First you need to tell us the serial number... then you should post some hi-res pictures of it.

Dean,
Thank you for getting back to me. Listed below is some of the information that I have found so far. I will work on getting some pictures. Serial number - 146536 Frame - 0 Grade - V Weight - 3/3 Vulcan Steel barrels Thanks |
Well, we know that it is a VH(E?) on the 0-frame which makes it a 16 gauge, a 20, or a 28 gauge.
I’m away from my Parker Serialization book but somebody else can surely tell you what is shown for your serial number in that book. Ordering a PGCA research letter may tell you even more. . |
20 ga with 28 inch barrels no ejectors

I thought that I remembered it being a 20 gauge double barrel shotgun. The last time I fired this gun was over 50 years ago. I looked at the letter and was not sure if I had all of the answers, but will try.
I am hoping that I can post some pictures. I have downloaded some but have not figured out how to attach. Thanks |
The forend on your gun is not original. It would have originally had a splinter forend on it and someone fashioned a beavertail for it at some time. The buttstock also looks to have been reworked some and the checkering recut on it. But the wood that the butt is made of itself does appear to be original to the gun.

Brian,
Thank you for the information. I sort of remember my grandfather talking about the forend needing to be replaced and possibly having the barrels reblued which I do not believe was done. With not having all of the original parts , does that lessen the value by quite a bit? Thanks |
Yes, the beavertail forend hurts it.
The barrels do not appear to have been re-blued. But it is hard to tell for sure. |
