re-stock
 

Good evening, everyone. I have a CE that needs to be re-stocked. Do any of you have a recommendation as to who I should call to do the work? Does anyone have any insight as to how much the new stock and fore end will cost (turnkey)? this is new territory for me and I would appreciate any wisdom on the subject. Thank you

i'll second that, assuming you are in the USA-

and get your estimates from the craftsman - that's more accurate

I have done this twice with a Parker and depending on the wood your looking at $3000+/-. One was a CHE. Unfortunately the person who did the CHE has died and the other smith has retired so I can't help you there.

He has done several Parker stocks for me and I was very pleased with wood and fit. The Comb on his Parker stocks is a little wider than originals. If you decide to use him ask to have him match the comb dimensions on the existing stock. I asked for plain vanilla wood and this is what I received.

Imagine if you had requested fancy wood.

DelGrego in Illion, NY restocked a 16 of mine but just know that DelGrego tends to make his stocks as Remington did way back when.

Heavens forbid !!! Most guys here are against taking a couple of thousands out of the chokes but a perfectly ok with replacing the wood on a Parker. :banghead::banghead::banghead: Where do we draw the line? :whistle:

if the old stock is damaged beyond use, a new stock puts the gun back in action

if the old stock is ok but does not fit the new owner, all he has to do it keep the old stock, and it can always be reinstalled at a later point to return the gun to original
