P Grade

My local gunsmith called and asked me to stop by the shop. One of his regulars had inherited a 1907 20 gauge P Grade Parker and he wanted me to see the gun. His grand mother had soaked the gun in shellac after her husbands death and hung it on the wall of their cabin for the last 20 years. NOTHING moves on the gun, forearm, top lever and screws etc... as everything has a thick layer of shellac. We ran a bore camera down the barrels and they are in great shape with a good coat of shellac.
If the owner/gunsmith can get the gun apart and remove the shellac I believe the gun could be a beautiful hunting gun.

20 gauge Parker with 26 inch steel barrels would be very appealing to many.

I have dealt with guns like that. The shellac is a pain to clean off, but it usually does a great job at protecting whatever condition and finishes were on the gun at the time of coating.

Sort of like having your babies shoe's bronzed...... :-)

Sounds like a great find.
