Rem 1894 Legia Damascus Barrels

Another interesting Damascus barrel pattern. The Legia damascus from a Remington Model 1894 Grade DE.

I don't know what the KU stamp on the flats means. This being NCAA tournament season, and KU being in contention, I suspect it refers to my beloved Jayhawks. Go KU.

Reminds me alot of Bernard barrels. Thanks for sharing.

Wow!

I agree Larry - the two share some commonalities.

Thanks for sharing Bruce, those are stunning.

Thanks for posting Bruce. I was a bit confused regarding 'Legia P.' and 'Ohonon 6 S.J.' and have revised this document

Drew, matching the pattern to those pictured in the Semmer book, we thought it to be Legia P., the "P" referring to Peiper as the supplier. We could be wrong. The barrels do not say "Legia".

Any idea what "KU" means, other than I'm sure you will agree with me that is evidence of the worldwide fame of KU basketball.

Neither Semmer nor Researcher have found the 'Remington Barrel Marks Rosetta Stone' :( 'KU' doesn't fit any known Belgian gun or barrel maker.

KU is a Remington repair date code----May 1971.

Wow, I'd like to find one of those. I have twist, Boston or Oxford, and one Etoile barrel Remington guns. A good friend has a chain damascus Remington. There are a lot of the Boston or Oxford guns out there, but few of the others. I can't tell the difference between the Oxford pattern and the Boston and I'm looking at the Semmer book and my gun with magnifiers on. Can anyone explain it ? Thanks for showing your gun, it lets me know there are other patterns yet to find. Paul

Here you go Paul. Casey Chlebowski's 1900 KD with transition (and weld line) from 'Oxford 2 S.J.' Two Iron Crolle at the breech to a 'Boston 2 S.J.' at the muzzle.
