Aftermarket Beavertail

Recently I acquired a very late Meriden VH, 28”, ic/m, pg, 12ga 1 1/2 frame, in really really nice condition...exceptions being a white line pad, and a well fitted, but homely beavertail fore arm. Nice dimensions. I have been searching for replacement forend wood, with the intention of selling the gun, as I have never in general dound the appeal of BT guns.

Saturday, on a whim, I took this gun to shoot five stand. Lost five targets out of 200, with very gusty wind conditions. Cannot miss with this thing!

This gun might have to live in the second row of the case.....but I cant sell it now! I shoot it so well, that now, I am cautious of replacing the crispy white line pad with a silvers.

That white line pad might be the guns mojo????

It seems that the non-collector-grade guns that can be shot with a measure of blithe abandon give us the best scores.

I recently bought a super nice GH 12 with 30” barrels choked .043” and .044”.
I never thought i was good enough to shoot a full choked gun until I shot this one. I amazed myself with it - first time on the SC field I shot lights out and decided it would be my new ‘go to’ 12 gauge and I would use it for turkeys too.... then I got tricked into selling it... don’t make the same mistake I made!

Well, I learned my lesson at the Southern. I shot a "stock" original round knob VH, that I shoot decently at wild birds in the Challenge, and shot poorly. I am going to figure out a "go to" Parker target gun, and this gun might be it.

Do you know how your bird gun was choked Mark? I'm looking for constriction vs. bore diameter usually shown as .015, .030, etc.
Thanks.
