RST 16 gauge Spreaders
 

I was glad to see they came out with these, so I bought a box to try them out, at the Vintagers last weekend. The gun I was shooting has fairly open chokes, so I only tried a few. I couldn't help but notice they 'felt' a little different than the normal 1125 RSTs that I've been shooting.
I decided to dissect one and can't say I positively recognize this powder. It may not even be an IMR powder, but it vaguely looks like 700X, but without the tiny hole in the flakes. The charge was exactly 17 grains
Does anyone recognize it.

What is the shot charge weight and listed MV and what does the spreader insert look like?

I was told by one of the RST shop employees that they are importing shotgun powder from Spain. He claimed the powder is not available to reloaders yet.

Based on the load data and listed performance I suspect the powder is probably Unique or a close kin.

Gentlemen,

Commercial ammunition manufacturers having a Type 6 FFL have many powders available to them which are NOT available to unlicensed reloaders.

Some of you might be interested in knowing that the Spanish powders are shipped "wet", and dried in this country before use, resale, etc. Much safer to bulk ship in the wet state.

Forget about a forensic analysis of the powder flakes - what about the pattern!!?? FWIW, I bought a flat of these in June at Ernie's and have since shot several rounds of sporting clays with them out of a very early A.H. Fox AE 16 with 28" barrels and their typical very tight M & F chokes. They are wonderful! - The 'umbrella' effect of their chosen wad is quite evident at close ranges and I think they will make great grouse and woodcock loads in tight covers.
